Return of the Aztec Print!
Ok it has nearly been a solid three months since I last blogged, apologies but my life has just been too full of other awesome things living in Australia and everything! Whilst having no job means shopping is a rare occurrence I have treated myself to a few pieces and for some reason my eyes are always drawn to the tribal trend which seems to making a comeback for the second summer running. I...

Topshop Personal Shopping
It was always a little fantasy of mine to spend time being treated like royalty in one of my favourite ever places (Topshop. Obviously.) so when me and the girls discovered they do free personal shopping sessions in Sydney’s store we jumped at the chance. It was even better than we thought it would be! Not only were we given free alcohol and cupcakes but we got to try on all of the...

Tapered Trousers
Being in Australia again for the next four months (and this time without my own laptop) blog posts will be few and far between, but today I have taken a day out of job hunting so thought I would share my new love of tapered trousers. I found this beautiful pair in H&M for a bargain of £15 and decided to wear them for my 23rd birthday night out, teamed with a simple black leotard and...

Office Nighthawk Boots
Yes you are indeed looking at the most amazing pair of boots in the whole world and yes I am happy to say I now own them after a 6 month debate with myself about getting them! These beauties from Office (named the ‘Nighthawk’ boots) are inspired by the famous Chloe Susanna boots I sadly couldn’t afford, so when I saw these appear I knew I instantly had to have them. Therefore...

Winter Wardrobe
Ok it has actually been forever since I blogged (sorry) but since coming back from Sydney I’ve actually had a very busy life. There will be an even bigger lack of blogging for the next five months as I’m off back to Australia in 2 weeks, simply because I can! This is a very lazy post, just a little snap of one of my classic winter wardrobe outfits. One of the good things about this...

Goodbye AWPR!
After 10 weeks of interning at Adam Worling PR my time as a fashion intern has rapidly come to an end! I have had SUCH a brilliant time working at AWPR; the people I worked with are so lovely and I’ve learnt a lot about the industry itself. I’m really glad I did it and I only wish I could stay longer. I’ve worked with some of the most amazing fashion brands and last week I even...

Fash-spiration
Some people don’t like to admit it, but all of us in one way or another (or at least people who are actually into fashion) get our style inspiration from celebrities. With websites like Coolspotters and fashion magazines telling us where to buy the latest high street clothes made famous by celebs it’s easy to copy. In my opinion there’s a difference between just copying...

Biore
Ok I am by no means a beauty blogger. In fact I rarely do anything even beauty related in real life. For day-to-day wear I wear minimal make-up, I don’t use any products on my hair and all I use on my skin is moisturiser. So I can’t really explain my excitement when work decided to give me a free Bioré gift bag with skincare products worth about $150! It includes two different...

Backless Love
I have a bit of a backless obsession, when it comes to dresses in particular, and as I’m not very well endowed in the chest area (which I totally don’t mind about!) I prefer my back to be on show more than my front. This embellished Natasha ‘Cornelli’ dress is really popular with clients at work and it’s only just become available online. Unfortunately for me...

Baroque
I wanted this embellished baroque bodysuit from ASOS ages ago and now it’s sold out I am very upset as it was a bargain at only £38! These Zara booties are still on my wishlist however. First saw these in the Zara at Heathrow Airport on my way to Sydney and £89.99 isn’t too bad really. I love this trend.

Sydney Spending Spree
Ok so I did say to myself that I wouldn’t do much shopping or even any shopping at all whilst I was here but then I thought to myself, well why the hell not?! This is a once in a lifetime experience and I deserve some treats to take home with me as souvenirs of my amazing fashiony time in Australia! I think I’ve done pretty well too. I spent approximately $120 which is really only...

Natasha
Another Australian designer which I mentioned in an earlier post that I’ve been lucky to work with is Natasha who’s new winter collection just came in last week and it’s really amazing. These are a few pieces from the summer collection that I really love, particularly those rust coloured paperbag shorts! Natasha has a store in Sydney and one in Bali, Indonesia. A lot of her...

Bec&Bridge
Interning for a fashion PR company I get an insight into a lot of amazing brands but my favourite designers by far and probably the most popular label amongst clients are the Australian designer duo Bec & Bridge; two friends who met at design school and created their own female fashion range together. These are just four of many beautiful outfits from their website featured in their...

Peplum
One trend I haven’t exactly warmed to is peplum but I think I’ve finally found one or two exceptions. In my opinion, peplum dresses and tops just look way too girly and I like my outfits to have a bit more edge. HOWEVER. I found this little gem of a dress from Miss Selfridge for just £39. The leather (well, PU) peplum gives it more of a rock chick vibe and it’s available in...

Sydney Life
I have now been living in Australia for nearly 6 whole days! Where is the time going? Now I’m finally getting over the jet-lag I am starting to enjoy the whole experience a lot more. At first I had decidedly hated it as I was so tired, had no appetite and kept thinking about my mum and getting homesick, but I’ve settled in a bit now and I’m definitely getting used to the way...

Australia Treats
It is now 9 days and counting until I leave for my big trip down under!! I am so unbelievably excited but really nervous as well about being so far away for 3 months. But I can’t wait to start my fashion PR internship. I decided to treat myself to some clothing spends as I never had a hot holiday this year I did deserve a bit of ‘holiday’ shopping don’t you think?!...

Swan Print
How cute are these Topshop swan print shorts please?!
Just wanted to post the link to my WIWT account actually! http://wiwt.com/user/elaine_xo/ (‘What I Wore Today’). Came across this random website on someone else’s blog and I love it! Basically you can post photos of what you’re wearing once a day and tag each garment to let other users know where you bought them....

Trend Alert
As I noticed whilst out shopping yesterday one of the new in-colours is khaki which makes me very happy as I’ve always been a fan of the military trend. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made was a military jacket from Mango in York when I was 16 for about £45 and I still wear it to this day. It’s one of those items of clothing that lasts for a lifetime and never goes out...

Black vs. White
Two recent outfits for nights out showing two different sides of my style. For a fancier night out I opted for a chiffon white asymmetric dress from inlovewithfashion.com teamed with my spiked boots and a Topshop silver leaf necklace. For a more rock-themed night out I decided to wear a leather Miss Selfridge top, PU H&M skirt, neon H&M necklace, Primark striped blazer and bright...

Neon Brights
Without a doubt my favourite current trend right now is neon yellow. I never thought it would be my thing but now when I go shopping I find myself picking up everything in this colour and now I have shoes and a necklace I want more. I seriously need this skirt! I think it’s such a great trend to just add a pop of colour to a simple, minimalistic outfit.

Asymmetric Hems
Undoubtedly my favourite ever skirt trend the asymmetric/drop hem/mixi/mullet skirt (or whatever you want to call it) is the perfect item to dress up an outfit and with so much colour choice it doesn’t have to be girly. This trend actually cropped up last year within the Love brand at Topshop and I thought it was amazing, but people have only just started wearing it and most shops have...

Recent Randoms
Just some of my recent summer snaps including last night’s outfit (Motel red ‘Jet’ v-neck playsuit and New Look wedges) and some holiday photos from Scotland with the fam! Of course my family found it ridiculous that I went on a 9.5k walk in a gold metallic jumper, floral shorts and Carvela military boots but this is me we’re talking about.

Summer Days
A couple of summery days allowing room for some summer wardrobe wearing. Today I took the opportunity to wear some of this week’s purchases teaming my Primark monochrome blazer with some casual H&M white shorts, H&M black vest, fluro yellow H&M shoes and neon H&M necklace. (Need to start shopping somewhere other than H&M clearly!) I love this look as you could just...

High Street Finds
After doing some digging around on clothing websites I managed to find these two high street versions of the Chloe Susanna studded ankle boots I posted a few weeks ago. I’m in heaven! The top pair are from Office and are £80 whilst the other pair are from Zara with a slightly heftier price tag of £119. As I’m still saving for my trip to Australia (which coincidentally is one month...

Haul
Treated myself to a little shopping trip this week… incorporating two of my current favourite trends, fluro yellow and monochrome! Believe it or not this Primark blazer was only £15. YES that is correct!! After trying to find my perfect striped blazer my favourite ended up being Primark’s finest! Happy Elaine :)

Topshop New In Wishlist
I don’t know why I do this to myself yet every week at work I find myself back on the Topshop website gazing longingly at their ‘New In’ section and holding myself back from adding numerous items to my shopping basket there and then. This week was no exception! So many amazing pieces; here are my five favourites which completely reflect my own personal style incorporating key...

Spontaneous
What was originally planned to be a quiet night in with wine and DVDs turned into a very drunken night out at Revs and Perdu. One of my best friends who went to live in Dubai for a year came back for a holiday and I ended up going out in all of her clothes which was so exciting!
River Island blazer, River Island shorts, Miss Selfridge boots

Work and Play
Two recent outfits. Bought this Zara dress for a night out but actually ended up wearing it to work! I got some hilarious comments for wearing a gold dress but I don’t care, it’s amazing and so unusual. It’s a bit of a weird shape, being a tunic and the pockets stick out funny so I added a skinny Primark belt. Wore it with my studded black ballet pumps to add some extra...

Ladies Day
Yesterday was Ladies Day at the races! Sadly didn’t turn out to be as fun as last time I went to the races in York. It was cold/windy/rainy and a lot of people were just miserable. And it was packed of various ‘wannabe posh people’ (i.e. scum of the north east) who clearly had no idea of the meaning of fashion!! Seriously though, I saw someone in a long gold sequin evening...

Wishlist
I swear my wishlist just gets bigger and bigger by the day. Again, you can see my wardrobe isn’t really straying from my current favourite trends (tribal/metallics/fluro) with this amazing neon messenger bag from Zara, which can also be used as a clutch, an aztec-style fringed kimono from the brand Reverse which is sold on ASOS etc and another aztec-inspired piece from Topshop, simple...

Runwaydreamz
Ok new obsession- Runwaydreamz is a US online shop specialising in frayed shorts in loads of different patterns and colours. The price tag on them is more than I’d pay for a pair of shorts at this moment in time but even just sitting gazing at them on my screen fills me with happiness! The aztec print ‘Willow’ shorts are definitely my favourites. I love the stud detailing on...

I Can Dream...
I have become addicted to Shenae Grimes’ fashion blog (Annie from 90210) which is where I found these gorgeous boots. A little (well a lot) out of my price range sadly, the Chloe Susanna ankle boots are simply A-MAZING. Love the androgynous look they have about them and could be worn with almost any outfit from a vintage summer dress to boyfriend jeans and a blazer. Always loved...

In Love with 'Love'
As always I decided to treat myself to a little eBay spend. I know I know, I NEED to save up for Australia but this was cheap. I promise. I discovered the ‘Love’ clearance store so I had to buy something seeing as it’s my favourite go-to website for dresses. This dress is simply beautiful! The picture here doesn’t do it justice, it’s a gorgeous ivory colour with...

Futuristic
I have definitely been more good with my spending as of late. Sadly clothes are at the bottom of my list of things to buy with trying to fund my 3 month trip to Australia- just had to fork out £180 for my visa! I have however bought these two badboys for under £20 which I think is acceptable. I love this trend so much. This jumper is so odd but that’s why I like it.

Bought these two beauties in town last week. I wanted this jumper when it first came to Topshop but never got round to buying it. Then found it in the sale for just £15! I love it, it’s perfect summer knitwear. And I am in LOVE with this H&M crystal rose necklace. How amazing is it please?!
